Have Quilt, Will Travel
I typically travel with a quilt.* Hotel blankets tend to be too lightweight for my taste. Snuggling up under the weight & comfort of my handmade quilt makes sleeping away from home easier, even in warm weather.
Usually I take this log cabin quilt I started in 2006 and finished ...later. (Remember, quilts have no statute of limitations.)
It’s rumpled because it normally lives folded up in my car. You know, in case of snowdrifts.
When I made this queen-size quilt, I didn’t yet have access to a longarm quilting machine, so I tied it.
Also, I didn’t know a lot about seam allowances. We live and learn.
What If...
What if I didn't have to bring my own quilt?
What if I booked a stay at a gorgeous getaway, and arrived to find beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilts already there?
On the bed.
Draped over the couch.
Placemats on the table.
Potholders in the kitchen.
I can make this happen for you.
Whether you operate a vacation property or just want to feel that level of luxury in your home sweet home, I'm here to help.

Where My Okies At
I lived in Oklahoma for seven outta-sight years. It's where my art career really began. I'm in Austin now, but Oklahoma will always have a cherished place in my heart.
That's why I have a special message for my Okie supporters and collectors. (Hi, guys! Lookin' good!)
I've lived in Austin for three years now, and I work with two excellent Texas galleries:
Cerulean Gallery in Amarillo Ro2 Art in Dallas
I have a show coming up soon at Cerulean. On Edge opens on Friday, 16 September 2016, and runs through 28 October. I've been working very hard this year to present you with the best paintings I've ever created.
On September 16th, I'll be at the opening with a big big smile on my face.
You know who I would love to see there? You.
Would you consider making the trip?
I'm asking two months in advance so you'll have time to make travel plans. Amarillo is about 3.5 to 4 hours by car from Oklahoma City. You won't believe how that time flies when you're carpooling with friends.
In addition to the amazing art show at Cerulean Gallery (wink), here are some other things to do during your visit:
Have chicken fried steak at Lucille's Roadhouse
Take selfies at Cadillac Ranch
Indulge with wine & cheese at OHMS Cafe & Bar
Wake up to Roasters Coffee
Take in two great exhibitions at the Amarillo Museum of Art: Light on the Plains: Frank Reaugh pastels from the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum Side by Side: Larry Bell and Gabriel Dawe
Take the challenge at The Big Texan
Hope to see you there!
Sarah Goes to NYC
This is your brain on vacation.
As you may have read, I have a piece in the Society of Illustrators Annual 51. The show for the Book and Editorial categories has opened, and I'll be attending the awards night this Friday, February 6th, with friends and family.
Other things I plan to do in New York include: Walking a lot Eating a lot, for example, at Sakagura Attending the Society's weekly Jazz & Sketch night on Thursday Catching the end of the James Jean show Kindling at Johnathan LeVine Gallery And maybe getting a haircut
Ciao!
p.s. Thanks to Shanna at Blue 7 for helping me find something respectable to wear.
